This friendship that blossomed back in May 2024 holds a special significance as it brought together two masters in their martial arts disciplines. What started as a chance meeting evolved into a deep connection, leading to a collaboration between the two clubs they represented. The decision to progress further with a joint training day was a pivotal moment that brought together 30 eager students at the MPSK club in Peterborough.
The atmosphere at the MPSK club was one of warmth and hospitality, with open hands and open hearts welcoming the visiting instructors and students. The training day kicked off at 10:30, with both Instructors Grand Master Ian Parker and Renshi Daren Stirrat sharing their expertise by swapping between techniques. The intensity of the training was evident as breaks were kept short to ensure a wealth of knowledge was imparted to the participants.
The training session covered a diverse range of disciplines, including self-defense techniques, kickboxing, Escrima sticks, Karate Kata, and a unique addition from Renshi Daren Stirrat - an introduction to Capoeira. The day of training concluded at 16:30, marked by a heartfelt exchange of presents between the instructors as a token of appreciation for the newfound connection.
The highlight of the day came in the form of a significant announcement from Grand Master Ian Parker, who elevated Renshi Daren Stirrat from a 7th to an 8th Dan, bestowing upon him the title of SHIHAN. This momentous occasion stirred emotions among the students and Renshi, underscoring the depth of respect and camaraderie that had developed.
A note of gratitude was extended to the members of the MPSK club and their Headteachers, Grand Master Ian Parker, for their generosity, support, and warm welcome. The opportunity to come together and share in this experience was truly cherished by all involved, solidifying the bonds of friendship and mutual admiration that had been forged through the shared passion for martial arts.
