May 17th, 2025, marks the exciting commencement of the Masters Gathering in the picturesque town of Bridlington. This highly anticipated event attracts esteemed Masters from various countries, including the Netherlands, Germany, the United Kingdom, Ireland, Portugal, Nepal, and many others, creating an unparalleled atmosphere of camaraderie and learning. The experience was truly unforgettable, as participants engaged in a rich exchange of knowledge and skills. The gathering began with an introduction by Grand Master Stuart Hicken, who took the stage to welcome all the Masters and set the tone for the event. Following this, students were organized into groups and assigned to appropriate training mats, ensuring that each participant receives instruction tailored to their skill level and martial arts background.
Each Master was allotted a dedicated 45 minutes to impart their expertise to the students. This structure highlights the dedication and commitment of both the students and instructors, who are all eager to learn and share their knowledge in a collaborative environment.
Among the distinguished instructors, our Head Instructor, Daz Stirrat, was set to teach alongside Grand Master Ian Parker from the MPSK, focusing on critical aspects of close combat self-defense and Shotokan techniques. Their combined experience and insights into these disciplines promised to provide participants with invaluable skills that can be applied in real-world scenarios.
Attendees had a unique opportunity to explore a diverse range of martial arts styles, including Jujitsu, Kenpo, Tan Su Do, Kung Fu, Tai Chi, and many more. Each session was designed to enhance the participants' understanding and proficiency in these varied disciplines. A one-hour lunch break have provided everyone with the chance to recharge, share experiences, and bond over their shared passion for martial arts. This break was essential, as the massive influx of knowledge throughout the day requires students to have the energy to absorb and practice what they learn.
On Saturday evening, an additional gathering took place, aimed at fostering friendships and strengthening the community among participants. This social aspect of the event was just as important as the training itself, as it allowed for networking and the building of lasting relationships within the martial arts community. Sunday followed a similar format, featuring different instructors who brought their unique perspectives and techniques to the table. After the final session concluded, all participating students and Masters have received certifications, acknowledging their hard work and dedication throughout the weekend.
We are thrilled to have been part of this extraordinary event, which not only enriches our skills but also deepens our connections within the martial arts community. The experience has left a lasting impression, and we are already looking forward to returning next year, eager to continue our journey of growth and learning alongside such esteemed Masters and passionate students.
